With July rapidly approaching, the team at NOCO Hair have had clients getting in touch asking what happens with hair colouring in Clifton from 04th July with the new Covid-19 regulations in place.

Our Whiteladies Road hair colouring experts have been putting together guidelines to help guests feel welcomed and ready to get more of our incredible hair colouring services in a Covid-secure Bristol hair salon.

We’re hoping to be re-opening our Clifton salon from 04th July, subject to it being safe to do so, and having gained approval, and with that in mind, we’ve got a few changes in place to ensure our stylists and guests are totally safe.

These hair colouring service changes around Covid-19 will include:

  1. The New Normal – we’re working really hard in the run-up to July, to put measures in place at our Whiteladies Road salon, to ensure your peace of mind during your visit. Although NOCO Hair will look a bit different, and we can’t serve you a frothy coffee anymore, we promise that the standard of hair colour service you receive from Corey, Noel and the team will not be compromised.
  2. Our promise to you – we are committed to giving guests a salon experience that can be enjoyed safely. How the NOCO Hair team makes you feel has always been our top priority, and as an award-winning Bristol salon, we’re going to make sure that appointments don’t feel clinical. We’ll be guiding guests throughout each step of the hair colouring journey, as always.
  3. Refresh & Revamp – Some guests will want to get rid of the grey, whereas others will want a big change. Maybe now is the time to consider something different, such as moving from a full head of highlights to a balayage, and embrace a more lived-in look post-lockdown. Or, alternatively, to add some new highlights to frame your face and provide new life to your hair.
  4. A Special Feeling – hair is an important part of how your feel about yourself, and getting hair done is often the pampering and ‘pick-me-up’ guests need. As a leading Clifton hair salon, we’re here to make that happen for you, and our hair colouring services will give you something to feel good about again.
  5. Colour Focus Salon – NOCO Hair works with passion, knowledge, and offers a bespoke hair colour service for every guest. We have two L’Oreal Colour Specialists in our Bristol salon, and our focus is to give guests beautifully-blended colours. NOCO Colour equals beauty and quality.
  6. Ongoing education in lockdown – we’ve also been brushing up on our knowledge in-salon, to ensure we’re ready to deal with the results of three months of no salon time, DIY hair colouring at home, and six-inch roots.
  7. Online consultations – NOCO Hair now offers online hair colour consultations in Bristol, so that we can assess your hair, manage your expectations, and come up with a service plan prior to your booking. This offers an alternative to coming into the salon before your hair colouring appointment. Skin patch test kits are also now available to be sent to you, so you can do them at home.

With July 04th soon to be here, and hairdressers across Bristol hopefully re-opening their doors, the entire team at NOCO Hair are committed to offering you a Covid-safe Clifton hair salon.

Our main concern, of course, is to provide a completely clean and safe environment for both our Whiteladies Road hairstylists and our lovely guests from 04th July and beyond.

It’s really important to us here at NOCO Hair for our guests to feel special and to enjoy an amazing in-salon experience with us. The last thing we want is for any guest appointment to feel daunting, and so we wanted to take some time here to outline some of the recommended measures we’re putting in place.

There’s a new salon layout: we’ve re-positioned our styling stations to allow us to increase the distance between each guests to the required amount.

We will have a new guest welcoming protocol, involving a cleansing zone and hand-washing facilities in the side room that was previously our Beauty Room.

We’re now unable to serve you refreshments, but there will be self-service bottles of water available in-salon for each guest when they visit us.

The NOCO Hair reception area will be fitted with a glass screen, to protect you and our team, and we’ll be preferring to take card not cash payments. All card machines will be disinfected and sanitised before and after each use.

Our Covid-safe Clifton hair salon has introduced new cleaning measures, to ensure thorough sanitisation in-salon between each guest visit. Each stylist will have their own cleaning tray in their trolley, to allow them to thoroughly disinfect all tools and equipment, as well as their styling station, before and after each guest visit. High-traffic salon areas will be regularly disinfected.

Adjustments have been made to our booking system, too, to allow us to spread out appointments, reducing waiting times, and allowing us to thoroughly clean in-salon between each guest visit.

We will be changing staff rotas, and ensuring that there is no over-crowding.

Staff training on new procedures including PPE will be introduced, and it is likely that the minimum requirement for staff will be gloves and face mask. This will be confirmed further to ongoing government advice being updated.

Partition dividers have been fitted between each backwash sink in the salon, and we have changed to disposable and bio-degradable towels for all guests.

There will be glass partition screens at each styling station, to extend the barrier between guests and further reduce the risk of virus droplets in-salon.

We’ve introduced temperature checks for all NOCO Hair staff and guests, as well as a ‘Stay Home’ policy, so if you’re feeling unwell or someone in your household is unwell, please stay at home and self-quarantine.

The above measures are subject to ongoing government guidelines, and are subject to change. For example, we may need to provide all guests with PPE, floor stickers maintaining a two-metre social distancing policy in-salon, as well as additional hand sanitizers at styling stations.

We’ll keep all guests informed as the rules and regulations develop, of course.

There will also be an upcoming NOCO Hair video once all of our PPE has arrived, so that we can show you what new client journey will look like.

Finally, the entire team here at NOCO Hair would like to reassure our current and new guests that we are fully committed to providing you all with a Covid-safe Clifton hair salon, and many more award-winning hair salon experiences.

The most popular hairdressing offers at our Clifton hair salon are available through our exclusive and unique Membership Package scheme.

There are five different Membership packages offering various levels of hairstyling and hair colouring services, and starting from only £30 per month.

Our Guest Membership Packages provide unlimited visits for one set monthly fee, and the feedback we’ve been getting has been absolutely amazing.

Our new guest package is really popular and we love to add further value, by offering a free wash and blow-dry.

Furthermore, if the guest comes back within seven weeks of their first appointment with us at NOCO Hair, we also give them 20% off a cut or colour service as a thank-you from us.

NOCO HAIR LAUNCHES CARE WITH HAIR CHARITY INITIATIVE

Bristol-based hairdressing salon Noco Hair has launched a new initiative with the aim of inspiring hairdressers to make a change to someone’s day and to raise funds for charity.

The idea came from when stylist Noel visited one of his oldest clients to cut her hair after she had moved into a St Monica Trust care home following being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

“After I cut Megan’s hair I gave her a head massage. In that moment something special happened. I didn’t realise it at the time, but as I gave her a massage and her daughter sat on the bed with a tear in her eye, there was a moment of calm and peace,” says Noel. “Megan looked and felt so relaxed, the energy in the room had shifted. It was like for that moment all the pain had gone. There is something so special about the human touch.

“At first I thought it was sad as it had turned out to be Megan’s last haircut. But then it came to me that this was a really beautiful thing and a huge honour to be able to give someone their last haircut along with a moment of calm and gentle release.

“This lead me to think about the fantastic work that hairdressers do on a day to day basis. We can literally turn someone for feeling terrible to fantastic. We can do something that doctors or no medicine can’t. This needs to be celebrated and sometimes hairdressers need reminding that we can literally change the world by changing somebody’s world.

“So we have set up Care With Hair with the aim of inspiring hairdressers to go out of their way to make someone feel amazing and to raise some cash for charity.”

The stylists from Noco Hair then teamed up with cancer charity Penny Brohn UK in Pill, who use complimentary treatments, yoga and massage as a healing and relaxing tool for people with cancer.

Together they recently hosted a Christmas fundraiser evening which included swing dancing, makeovers, hairstyling, and a raffle which raised £154 for the local charity.

Next year, the team at Noco plan to host more charity initiatives and Noel will be running the London marathon on behalf of Penny Brohn.

CLUB NOCO Membership Scheme

Going to the salon to get your hair done can be pricey if you do it every 6 weeks, as you probably should. Lets be honest – there are so many things to do, and quite often our hair gets left to the the last minute, by which time it has lost shape, feels drab and starts affecting our mood.

What is the answer to this?

The new Noco Hair Directors Cut Memberships scheme is designed to keep your hair looking twice as nice at a reasonable price, meaning that you can get more visits per year at no extra cost.

What we are finding is that we are doing beautiful haircuts, but the client would then put off their next appointment by a number of weeks due to cost. By doing this, the hair returns to us in poor condition, resulting to us needing to take more length off due to split ends.

From a clients point of view, they are having more expensive appointments due to needing a bigger service rather than maintenance appointments.

Membership scheme

Because of this, we created a membership scheme to give consistency of payments and more maintenance to the haircuts. All of this, sticking to our exceptionally high standards, including a head massage and complimentary refreshments on every visit.

“The membership system at Noco is great. It’s all set up to come straight out of my account like all of my other bills so I don’t even have to think about it. It gives me extra flexibility to come in for extra tidy-ups before things like holidays/ interviews and special occasions without worrying about the cost“

Helen M

We wanted to find a scheme where we could treat our members like the Kings and Queens of the salon, so we’ve added in 12 really exciting benefits, exclusive to those in the club.

Members Benefits

  1. Unlimited Visits
  2. Consistency of payments
  3. Increase your amount of visits per year
  4. Birthday styling – Get your hair washed and blow-dried on us for your birthday with a complimentary hair treatment
  5. Christmas party hair – Get your hair washed and blow-dried on us for your Christmas party with a complimentary hair treatment
  6. Bring a friend – Introduce a friend to the salon and they will receive a free wash and blow-dry with a treatment
  7. Priority appointments at peak times
  8. Mayday appointments – Let us know before 8am and we will guarantee to do your hair on the day
  9. Charity donation – 1% of your membership will go to Marie Curie
  10. Extra value with our standard promotions – Receive more than the the usual when it comes to offers
  11. Parking permit priority
  12. Members raffle – Win great prizes with our annual members raffle

One of our most frequently asked questions is “Is it really unlimited visits?“

The answer is yes! Whenever your hair needs a cut, we will do it for you.

There are currently 2 options, each of these are appointments where you will see the salon Directors, Corey or Noel.

We have decided to create 2 options so that clients with shorter hair who generally have more appointments are able to make use of shorter, but more frequent appointments. Clients with longer hair often spread their haircuts more, meaning a longer appointment time is required.

This scheme has proven to be hugely popular.

If you would like to know more about this please call the salon on 01174030998 for more information.

NOCO Hair salon in Bristol has won the coveted title of Independent Salon – Business Newcomer of the Year at HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards 2019.

The salon on Whiteladies Road in Clifton, which launched in 2018, beat off finalist competition from five other start-up salon businesses from around the country to win the national accolade.

The Independent Salon Business – Newcomer of the Year award recognises the stand-out British hairdressing entrepreneur who has made their business dream a reality and launched a successful salon in the last two years.

Salon managing directors, Corey Taylor and Noel Halligan received the coveted title from celebrity host Vernon Kay at the high-profile affair, hosted at the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza Hotel in London on September 9th, which attracted peers and influencers from the hair world.

Corey and Noel, who run the newly launched salon and employs five stylists, impressed a host of industry judges with their business plan, and brilliant customer retention, along with a display of all- round business health and growth since the salon’s inception.

Commenting on the announcement, Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards said; “Corey and Noel have crafted an amazing business from scratch. That truly is a mark of incredible entrepreneurial flair. To build a salon demonstrates passion and unrelenting commitment and NOCO Hair has lots of individuality, founded on brilliant business structure and marketing ideas”.

“It’s always a pleasure to see stylists making the brave decision to open their own salon. Launching a business and hiring a team is no doubt a big decision, but we are so grateful for these courageous risk-takers who make our high streets more vibrant and diverse.

“Corey and Noel are fantastic ambassadors for the industry with skills and vision that make them the perfect winners.”

On being the newly crowned Independent Salon – Business Newcomer of the Year, managing director and founder Corey Taylor and said: “We can’t put into words what winning this means… we’re speechless! We want to thank everyone who supported us on the way, especially our team who are really something else. It’s only been ten months since we opened, but it already feels like we’ve been doing this together forever. I attribute our success to the fact that we aren’t scared of asking our heroes how they got there and taking on board advice. We ask lots of questions and then turn what we learn into something that works for us and it’s working!”

Salon International, Britain’s biggest professional hairdressing show sponsored the Independent Salon – Business Newcomer of the Year category. Jayne Lewis-Orr adds: “There are so many aspects to planning and starting a new salon. I take my hat off to people like Corey who don’t let the fear of the unknown hold them back from following their dream. Many people wait until they know all the details and feel like they’re an expert in all things commercial, but she has committed and had well deserved success.”

HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards recognise the strategists, entrepreneurs and stand out stars in the hair industry, highlighting the business side of a world that is predominantly known for its creativity and links to fashion. The awards, now in their 21st year, celebrate the people making the British hairdressing industry the most respected in the world. The sixteen categories spotlight the people making the industry great, from the best team, to most accomplished salon manager, to outstanding assistant to new innovation. Franchisee, stylist and customer care programmes are also recognised in the line-up, as well as specific awards for salon design and the stylist making the most of social media to grow their business.

There are over 40,000 hairdressing, barbering and beauty businesses in the UK. The industry employs nearly 300,000 individuals with over half being self-employed, and 88% being female. Hairdressing is the 10th most popular apprenticeship in England, with 19,000 young people choosing a hairdressing career each year.*

Hairdressing affords people extraordinary opportunities including entrepreneurship, leadership, worldwide travel as a session stylist or educator and a creative and business outlet for driven individuals.

Launched in 1998, HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards promote professionalism, innovation and excellence; recognising those individuals and teams who work tirelessly to raise the profile of the hairdressing industry. Previous winners include TONI&GUY, Rush, Electric and Lee Stafford.
